Saturday Aug 25th…SUSAN EVANS
Nominated for Saboteur Awards best spoken performer this year and last year, and author of Shift Happens, Susan is returning to feature again at Megaverse after travelling all the way from Brighton for an amazing set at Hub in 2017! Not to be trifled with, Susan, in performance, will smile and wink one moment, and sever the heads of hypocrisy and injustice the next. Traversing the personal and the political via the expression of hurts and hilarities, Susan Evans is a warm presence, welcoming audiences and other performers alike into her world, where everybody who gets up to perform is to be celebrated for their heart and their art! Verbally adept and disarmingly humble, truly appreciating the ears of the audience, Susan will headline the August 26 Megaverse at Tiny Rebel with gracefully sharp words.
Sunday Aug 26…RUFUS MUFASA
Poet, singer, rapper, creative writing tutor and more, Rufus ended last year with the release of her outstanding album Fur Coats From The Lion’s Den which showcased only some of her range as a performer and collaborator. A singular voice that is more than willing to combine with the creative visions and sounds of others, Rufus brings a defiant strength and a willingness to reveal frailty to her multi-faceted onstage persona. At any moment she may reach out to the audience quietly or with a roar of song (accompanied or acapella), that makes her performances a combination of accomplished work in advance rehearsals and also explorations of the moment she finds herself in. A creator of good energies and like all the most wide ranging talents, full of gratitude for the response of audiences who are left in no doubt that they have just seen a fearless performer!
August 26 Megaverse at Tiny Rebel will feature completely different performers to the day before, so come both days and get two different experiences, each headlined by very different kinds of stage presence and performance virtuosity from Susan Evans and Rufus Mufasa
MEGAVERSE Organiser/Host…WILL FORD
In the words of one of his more archly self-deprecating pieces, self promotion makes Will Ford queasy, but he can just about manage to do it in the 3rd person. Seeking to surprise himself with what he writes, whether with amusement or total seriousness, that element of surprise repeatedly belies a rather unassuming and non imposing first impression people may get of him. He has been doing this sort of thing a long time and this is the fifth time he has organised the spoken word for HUB festival Cardiff. He’ll throw in a few pieces here and there but his priority when presenting a MEGAVERSE is to make every performer feel welcomed, appreciated and lead the applause!
IT’S GONNA BE LIKE POETRY POKEMON – CAN YOU CATCH ‘EM ALL?
Susan and Rufus will be our headliners, and over the course of two slammin’ sessions of spoken superlatives at TINY REBEL during HUB Festival, you will be able to see many more verbal vocalisers aiming for your heart, your soul and sometimes your funny bone. Mostly spoken, sometimes sung, many words will be flung in your direction by those above and those below…presented to you now in GLORIOUS ALPHABETICAL ORDER

COME TO HUB! COME TO MEGAVERSE! THIS AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND! COME!!!
And…just a random thought to finish…
ONE DAY THE PREDATORS WILL BE THE PREY
HERD OF PREY
We are the members
Of the herd of prey
When lions come
We run away
So we are not
The one who
The herd of prey
Us, we’re already
We are so many
That we should say
When we see lions
We don’t run away
We turn towards lions
Waiting to strike
All eyes upon them
The lions don’t like
Us, all running towards them
Lions like even less
So why don’t we do this?
It’s easy to guess
We don’t trust each other
As much as we could
To stand together
And so we are food.
